The newly launched Rajasthan Royals jersey for the IPL 2025 season is a brilliant amalgamation of modernity and tradition conceived by 11 students and by 3 faculty members of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Jodhpur. The front of the jersey is completely in pink symbolizing the team’s association with the Pink City while the contrasting half of the jersey has sleeves in blue. The front of the jersey features a very complex design inspired by the Vijay Stambh (Victory Tower) of Chittorgarh which embodies the spirit of victory.
The presentation of this jersey was done by Rahul Dravid, the head coach of Rajasthan Royals. The Vijay Stambh has been constructed in the year 1448 by Maharana Kumbha of Chittor to commemorate his victory over Gujarat. This tower stands nine stories tall as a mark of triumph and also has a place in the logo of Rajasthan Police which stands for valor and oneness of the Rajput forces led by Rana Kumbha. Mirrored in it is the theme of ‘unity in diversity’.
With students contributing their own flavors, the design process was really awakening in giving the finished jersey its representation of the team and the celebrations of heritage in Rajasthan. Here are the students who worked on this project:
- Aryan Yaduvanshi
- Nandini Yadav
- Madhuri Surse
- Anushka Naik
- Raj Lakshmi
- Raishal Bundwal
- Medhya Jain
- Nishtha Keswani
- Vilomi Shah
- Manya Bhatia
- Shreya Bhatia
The jersey depicts works of art from the Vijay Stambh, which echoes eternal victory- a symbol very much ingrained in the culture of Rajasthan. Not only does this project frame the artistic talents of students, but it also becomes the binding thread between sport and cultural heritage.
It’s an honor for NIFT Jodhpur students as well as the faculty to be part of this project. It has given them a huge platform to express their creativity at this scale. The project on Rajasthan heritage has really inspired students. They hope for many more great opportunities in the times to come.
This jersey is more than just a sports jersey; it’s a storytelling garment that speaks of history, valor, and cultural pride. It’s a statement of how sports can further culture as well as conserve it, thus making every match a celebration of legacy, so far as Rajasthani in cricket does into the game. Culture in the context of modernity is what the Rajasthan Royals, along with NIFT Jodhpur, are bringing to the table on this initiative. It enriches the general viewing experience of the IPL and beyond.
