Rajasthan Roadways News: Buses to Operate to Village Panchayat Headquarters on Rural Routes
Buses on rural routes of Rajasthan Roadways will reach up to village panchayat headquarters. With this facility, rural public transport will reach villages at their doorsteps. Rajasthan Roadways is aiming to take rural transport to every village. The management is ready to operate buses on rural routes as per the need of state depot. We have plans for 365 buses.
Under the rural public transport service, these buses would be operated by private operators and they would be fitted with GPS for tracking. Roadways buses currently run on national highways in the state, but will now also run on rural routes and state highways. Roadways management has finalised routes and issued tenders. Following this, bus operations on rural routes are expected to begin by the first week of March under a revenue-sharing model.
Facilities for Rural Passengers
Buses on rural routes will run up to the village panchayat headquarters and provide convenient transport facility to the villagers. Presently, very few Roadways buses ply on these rural paths. There are many village panchayats where Roadways buses will start for the first time, the plan said.
Rajasthan Roadways: Barmer-Udaipur to Get the Most Buses
Among depots, Barmer and Udaipur will run 16 buses each on rural routes and the least with 2 buses will serve the Abu Road depot. At 48 Roadways depots, preparations are on to operate buses including routes under 20 km.
Deluxe Buses with 22 Seats
The rural buses will be 22-seater deluxe buses which will have to be registered after April 1, 2020 and will have to meet the BS-6 norms. These buses will have at least one trip per day and up to 10 trips per day. For routes below 20 km, eight trips are being planned and for routes above 250 km, at least one trip per day will be planned.
