The water distribution plan envisages drinking water, industrial water, irrigation and groundwater recharge. An MOA has been signed and work on ground will begin soon.

Water Distribution: Meeting Diverse Needs

Allocation of Water under Ram Jal Setu Link Project Allocation of water under RAM JAL SETU LINK PROJECT is as per the following. 1744 MCm for drinking water for Rajasthan i. e. safe drinking water for the people of Rajasthan 205. 75 MCm for industrial use for generating employment and socio-economic growth 1159. 38 MCm for irrigation of new areas for agriculture 615. 43 MCm for refilling existing dams for their sustainability 108 MCm for Groundwater recharge.

An additional 270 MCM has been stored in view of the water scarcity in the event of poor monsoon seasons so that drinking water is available during the lean period as well. 522. 80 MCM of recycled water is also included in the project which is in line with the sustainable water management.

Infrastructure Development: Building a Robust Network

The success of the Ram Jal Setu Link Project depends on building critical infrastructure. Several barrages will be built, including the Ramgarh Barrage on the Kul River, the Mahalpur Barrage on the Parbati River and the Nimod Rathore Barrage on the Banas River. These barrages will regulate water flow and ensure efficient distribution.

New artificial reservoirs would be created in Ajmer and Alwar, new dams would be constructed at Isarda and Dungri, and the capacity of Bisalpur Dam would be increased by 0.50 meters. These infrastructure developments would create a strong network for efficient management and distribution of water.

PKC-ERCP Ram Jal Setu Link Project: Transforming Lives

The Ram Jal Setu Link Project will benefit 17 districts of Rajasthan and 13 districts of Madhya Pradesh. In Rajasthan, the availability of water would be improved in districts like Jaipur, Kota, Alwar, Ajmer and Bharatpur, not just for drinking purposes but also for agriculture and industrial activities, thus contributing to the economy as a whole.

There are many districts in Madhya Pradesh, like Guna, Morena, Indore, Ujjain which will get 3120. 09 MCM of water from the project. This way both states will be benefited and there will be no more water scarcity in the region.

A Collaborative Effort for a Sustainable Future

Collaboration between the state governments of rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh and the Ministry of Jal Shakti are playing a major role in the project. At a meeting held in New Delhi recently, the Secretary Ministry of Jal Shakti Debashree Mukherjee said a joint Detailed Project Report (DPR) is required. Officials from both the states were asked to submit the revised DPR within 15 days so that the project is completed without any delay.

The Ram Jal Setu Link Project is more than just a way to distribute water—it will improve the lives of millions. By addressing water scarcity, fostering sustainable development, and boosting economic prosperity, the project will become a key driver of development in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
