From this event, apart from celebrating the rich legacy of handicrafts of the region, valuable development initiatives done at the Luni assembly constituency over the last year’s time were highlighted.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the festival with a special edition development magazine concerning the industrial and cultural development of Western Rajasthan; but this event was stolen by his much-awaited release for public consumption of a comprehensive booklet detailing the development work in Luni.
CM Sharma Showcases Development Initiatives in Luni at Jodhpur Festival
The booklet, Luni’s Leap Forward, showcases various completed or ongoing projects under infrastructure, health services, education, and water management. Some of the key highlights were-
- Infrastructure Development: The building of new roads and renovation of existing roads to improve the connectivity of Luni with its surroundings and neighboring areas. A big project was the bypass road completed with the aim of alleviating traffic congestion.
- Healthcare: Up-gradation of local health centers, introduction of mobile health units, and expansion of the district hospital’s capability to meet the growing need of the population more effectively.
- Education: Initiatives to improve school facilities, especially concerning digital education and vocational training to fulfill industrial needs.
- Water Management: Rainwater harvesting and check dam construction were among various water conservation projects highlighted that are very important in an arid area like this.
CM Sharma said during his address, “The development of Luni serves as a testimony for our commitment to turning Rajasthan into a model state for balanced growth and cultural preservation. We are not just building roads and hospitals; we are building futures.”
The festival turned out to be quite a happening affair where craftsmen from all over western Rajasthan showcased their crafts-everything from Bandhani to Jodhpur furniture. CM Sharma spoke to artisans, complimenting them on their skills and stating that the government would extend its support to develop this crucial sector of the economy.
Local leaders and members of the public spoke of the visible changes in Luni. “Progress is there to see,” concluded Ram Singh, a local farmer. “The development around us is something we are all proud of.” The program wound down with CM Sharma stating that he envisioned a future where development and traditions would proceed together so that while modernity would come the cultural essence of places such as Luni would remain intact.
Indeed, the presence of CM Bhajan Lal Sharma, not only brought into focus the things achieved so far by the people of Luni, but also produced the first sounds of a call for further developmental activities throughout the state of Rajasthan; signaling a great emphasis towards economic growth and cultural preservation.
