Jaipur: Gone are the days now when travelling by Jaipur Metro was cost-effective. The new fare rates are set to come into force from Friday morning. Earlier, the first two stations were charged a fare of six rupees, but it has now been increased to ten rupees. However, smart card holders will receive discounted fares, which will be one, two, or three rupees less. Though from Mansarovar Metro Station to Badi Chaupar, the fare has increased from 22 to 30 rupees. On the other hand, a smart card will give a user an entry of 10 percent less.
The Rationale Behind the Fare Hike
The justification for raising fares as given out by Jaipur Metro administration is caused by the increase of operational and maintenance costs. The Chairman and Managing Director of Jaipur Metro- Vaibhav Galriya announced on the start of the increase in fares for the slabs of passengers starting on a Friday.
