New Year in Jaipur: Police Deploy Checkpoints to Control Crowds and Ensure Safety

New Year in Jaipur

Jaipur, December 31, 2024 – The countdown to New Year’s Eve has started clicking for the festival city of Jaipur. Besides the festivities, the arrangements are being made for the safety of people visiting the city. The Jaipur Police has launched an operation on a large scale for the management of people as well as controlling the crowd during the celebrations.

The measures for the New Year’s were referred to as one of the longest and heaviest security operations for the festive season. For that purpose, the police force has established a total of 142 checkpoints across the city. They would be used in regulating the traffic flow and limiting the density of crowd in designated areas so as to foresee and prevent any possible unruly behavior during the celebrations. Along with this, the initiative includes special drives against drunk driving, with breath analyzers deployed at strategic locations to ensure road safety.

Jaipur’s New Year Festivities Under Tight Security Net

Operation OAuth, as stated by Vikas Kumar, Inspector General, heading the operation, “Our main priority is to give a safe and secure environment for everybody celebrating New Year Eve. We are focusing on putting an end to drunk driving and maintain law and order wherever the celebrations are intense.” Through ‘Operation Hadbandi,’ intensive checking of hotels, dhabas, event halls, and other establishments likely to host large gatherings occurs.

However the city’s police force not only counts on a ground presence to keep law and order but CCTV cameras, which include both the pre-installed and the newly installed ones for the occasion, will also be used in real-time to ensure law and order across the city. This tech approach further complements a good deployment of personnel at strategic entry and exit points, particularly around places highly frequented by tourists, namely the Walled City and major hotels hosting New Year parties.

It is the call for every citizen and visitor to the city to cooperate with police, traffic guidelines, and enjoy responsibly. “We want to remind everyone to enjoy the festivities, but also the need for safety and respect for public order,” said Kumar. The police have recommended the party-goers use a designated driver or public transportation in order to avoid the risks of drunk driving, penalties, or accidents.

This preparation is in memory of earlier years when New Year’s Eve was turned from a shooting party to jammed traffic and minor public trouble. It has the more crowds involving tourists, in addition to the great local fervor, so that just to make sure no stone has been left unturned in making this transition into 2025 a memory only of joy, not misery.

Police efforts have received kudos from the local populace, who have taken to social media platforms to appreciate the proactive actions. “Good to see such commitment towards Public Safety. We can now celebrate in peace,” tweeted one citizen from Jaipur.

As in Jaipur, the onset of the New Year signifies the resolve from law enforcement to usher in the New Year safely. The New Year will be welcomed and with open arms in the city and yet with a watchful eye so that some unfortunate incidents do not overshadow the season’s revelry.

Local residents have expressed their appreciation for the police efforts, with many taking to social media to commend the proactive measures. “It’s good to see such dedication to public safety. We can celebrate with peace of mind,” one Jaipur resident tweeted.
