Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE), Ajmer, has for the first time laid down a dress code to ensure transparency in the Class 10 and 12 board exams, which begin on March 6. Regular students will have to appear in the exam in school uniform. If a student does not have the uniform, he/she might not be allowed to write the exam.
CCTV cameras will be put up at exam centres to ensure security and confidentiality of question papers. No bar for students not wearing uniform – but they will have to give valid reason Students must bring photo ID with admit card. Photo IDs include Aadhar card, school ID etc.
The examinations will be conducted at 98 centres in the district, including one new centre in Dhamana, Kapasan area, District Education Officer for Secondary Education Kalpana Sharma said here today. A total of 30, 429 students will appear for the exams, of whom 17, 127 are from class 10 and 13, 302 are from class 12.
Question papers will be stored at police stations:
The District Education Officer for Secondary Education in Chittorgarh also mentioned that this year, the question papers for all examination centers will be stored at nearby police stations. A coordinator will be assigned to manage these papers, which will be transported securely from station storage to the exam centers.
Challenges with the Dress Code
But while the new rules are being brought in to bring more transparency, the dress code norms may pose a problem for some students. Students whose schools are not recognised by RBSE but have been registered under other recognised schools on contract basis may not have the required uniforms. So they may have to arrange new uniforms and this will put extra burden on their parents.
Strict Monitoring and Evaluation
To facilitate the smooth conduct and timely results, the board is implementing the following measures:
- One invigilator per 25 students, additional invigilators for larger groups
- Those who have a bad reputation, whether officers, employees or teachers, will not be given major responsibilities.
- A 24-hour control room would be set up at the RBSE headquarters from March 1 to April 5 to take care of any problems during the exam period.
At the district level, flying squads would conduct random checks and videography to check adherence to the rules. This, coupled with CCTV surveillance, would prevent malpractice and maintain the integrity of the examination process.
