When she was two years old, Rekha’s father got a job as a manager at the State Bank of India. This position gave him a secure financial base and opened many doors for his family.
Rekha’s family moved to Delhi in 1996. Delhi became the backdrop of her education and political career. But Rekha never forgot her roots. She visits her hometown often and remains in touch with her community. This dual connection—her rural upbringing and urban experiences—has given her a perspective that is relevant both to the people of Haryana and of Delhi.

We all wish for a strong Chief Minister for Delhi. I don’t harbour any ambitions; as a BJP worker and now as an MLA, I will discharge my assigned responsibilities with the highest integrity. ’
