Sri Ganganagar District’s Map to Transform with Addition of 12 New Gram Panchayats

Sri Ganganagar District's Map

Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan – Due to the changes in the administrative structure, the Rajasthan government has undertaken restructuring the Panchayati Raj institutions like Zila Parishad, Panchayat Samiti, and Gram Panchayats. The restructuring has translated into increased activity among public representatives in the tehsil areas for local governance.

At present about 50-55 km up to Ghadsana on the borders of Sri Ganganagar and Bikaner districts for Panchayat Samiti work travel by residents of villages. Making Rawla the new headquarter for these services would involve creating a hub for more than 20 nearby Panchayats and thereby reducing the travel requirement for villagers.

Expansion in Local Governance in Sri Ganganagar with 12 new Panchayats

The state government has abolished the Anupgarh District, facing the displeasure of the general public. These measures will be balanced off with plans for establishing a Panchayat Samiti and more new Gram Panchayats, especially in the Rawla area. It is seen as an important step in appeasing public sentiment.

The reorganization could see the constitution of around a dozen new Gram Panchayats in Rawla Tehsil. However, it will be subject to a number of restructurings of already existing ones:

  • 8 PSD, Rawla Mandi, 2 KLD, 365 Head, 10 KD Rawla Village, 13 DOL, Khanuwali, 4 KPD, 22 RJD, Rojndi, 10 DOL, and Sakhi Gram Panchayat-sol, among others, are with regard to it.

Political analysts suggest that:From the reorganization of the 8 PSD Rawla Mandis, three new Gram Panchayats would be formed. Restructuring of 6 PSD, Rawla Mandi, 8 PSD, 2 KLD, and 365 Heads could yield either one BD or two LM Gram Panchayats. Khanuwali may turn out to be one Gram Panchayat comprising 17 KND Khanuwali. Reorganization of 13 DOLs may lead to the formation of seven DOL Gram Panchayats.

Other forms of reorganization include 10 DOL and 4 KPD into 1 KLM, 22 RJD into 27, Rozdi into 3 KHM, 10 KD Rawla villages into 2 KND, Sakhi into 8 SKM, and Gram Panchayat. Santosh Bawari, former MLA of Anupgarh, said, “The decision will be taken in conjunction with the public and workers’ sentiments. The workers have been asked to send proposals. Each and everyone would be made available to form gram panchayats including Rawla Panchayat Samiti.”

Speaking about the effort to make Rawla a Panchayat Samiti, “Rawla is a very big town as it is the center of many panchayats. If it can be gifted Panchayat Samiti headquarters, it will help the people in this area avail themselves of the full benefits of government schemes,” said Vikram Singh Ramgarhia, BJP Mandal President of Rawla Mandi.

This new development comes amid other updates in the region, such as holidays in Rajasthan, which have been declared until January 11 to provide relief for children against the harsh cold.
