In Sri Ganganagar district, a major accident occurred this morning due to fog on the Amritsar-Jamnagar Highway. Several vehicles, including seven to eight trucks, collided one after another, involving about a dozen vehicles in total. After the collision, two trucks caught fire, causing chaos on the highway. Upon seeing the fire, other drivers abandoned their vehicles and fled the scene. The incident happened near Thethar village close to Suratgarh Thermal. The fire in the trucks gradually intensified, engulfing them completely. Local residents gathered at the site in large numbers upon noticing the fire. They attempted to extinguish it but were unsuccessful. Subsequently, fire brigades arrived after receiving the information. With the help of approximately half a dozen fire engines, the fire was brought under control after about two hours of effort.
Meanwhile, the police also reached the accident site. They took two injured individuals to the hospital where they are being treated. No information about other injuries has come to light yet. According to the police, these trucks were traveling from Bikaner towards Sujangarh. The fog was very dense this morning, leading to the first truck being hit from behind by another, followed by a series of collisions. The police are now working to clear the damaged vehicles from the highway to restore normal traffic flow and are investigating the incident.
Sri Ganganagar Accident Similar Bhankrota Jaipur Accident
It’s worth mentioning that last year in Jaipur, a tragic road accident also occurred in Bhankrota. On December 20th last year, a gas tanker collided with a truck in the morning. The impact was so severe that all three nozzles of the gas tanker broke. As soon as people realized the gas was spreading, everyone tried to quickly leave the area by starting their vehicles. In this chaos, sparks from the vehicles’ ignitions or friction from the vehicles on the road ignited the gas floating in the air about 4 to 5 feet above the ground. The flames spread wherever the LPG gas had dispersed. Anyone within the explosion radius was severely burnt.
