Tonk, Rajasthan – January 5, 2025: Dense fog has engulfed Tonk and its surrounding areas over the last few days, severely reducing visibility and plunging temperatures on an indelible downtrend.

The fog, one of the densest this winter season, is said to have reduced visibility at times to less than 50 meters, making travel conditions critical for vehicles, which have to crawl with their headlights shining throughout the day.

The chill has increased; people say that cold wave is making indoor activities too tempting as anyone escaping the frozen world outside. Bonfire is now habiting almost every street corner with people from all walks of life trying to stay warm.

Tonk Gripped by Dense Fog: Visibility Drops, Temperature Plummets

Various schools have reported low attendance due to the unexpected dip in temperatures that have affected daily life. The farmers of rural regions near Tonk are feeling the heat as fog means poor visibility in the mornings for agricultural tasks, and the cold could even damage their crops if it lasts.

The Advisory has been issued by the Traffic control department to exercise caution while driving, use fog lights, and maintain a safe distance from a vehicle in front. Due to limited visibility, there have been reports of minor accidents and, therefore, authorities have enhanced patrols on major roads.

Meteorologists say low wind speed combined with humid air have triggered this weather phenomenon, and these conditions would continue for a couple of more days. The Indian Meteorological Department did not announce any immediate relief from these fog conditions, indicating cold and foggy conditions would continue.

The people ought to remain warm and minimize outdoor activities, particularly for susceptible groups like the aged and children. They should keep themselves updated about the weather situation. The local authorities shall remain alert to whatever assistance or relief measures may be needed should the situation deteriorate.

For now, residents of Tonk, preparing for more dense fog, go about their days while praying for clear skies and pleasant winter weather soon.
